EARTHQUAKE RELIEF INFORMATION - HOW OUR FUMC FAMILY CAN HELP IN HAITI

Last  weeks devastating earthquake in Haiti gives us an opportunity to assist our brothers and sisters in their time of most dire need.   UMCOR The United Methodist Committee on Relief was on the ground in Haiti working on assistance plans when the earthquake happened.  Reverend Sam Dixon, the head of UMCOR and Reverend Clint Rabb died of inguries sustained after 55 hours trapped in the rubble after the quake.  A number of other UM missionaries survived the ordeal.  The need for relief is great and our congreagation can join others around the world in assisting the victims of this tragedy.  Please see the UMCOR home page for up-to-date information on relief efforts in Haiti.   Your monetary donations to UMCOR are needed.  Please make sure your gifts reference the notation  "Advance #418325"  in the memo line.  You can donate on-line at:  http://secure.gbgm-umc.org/donations/umcor/donate.cfm?code=418325&id=3018760.  Checks may be put in the offering plate on Sundays or mailed to:  UMCOR, PO Box 9068, New York, NY 10087.  This past Sunday, FUMC raised over $1000 in donations for the UMCOR advance in Haiti.  Thank you for your kind and generous support.

100% of gifts made to this advance will go to help the people of Haiti.

BESIDES MONEY, HOW ELSE CAN YOU HELP?

Health Kits

FUMC will be collecting items to be put together into "Health Kits" to send to Haiti via UMCOR/ Sager-Brown / Louisiana.   Health kits provide the basic necessities for hygiene for one person.  We had a huge and wonderful outpouring of goods last weekend, thank you to everyone who donated supplies.  FUMC will be collecting supplies through the month of January for this effort, you can bring your donations to the library on Sundays or anytime during the week, the church office or the kit making event.  We are also encouraging our Sunday School children to bring their donations to Sunday School this month.
